Volunteer Service on 4/6/2011

For this week service, we will be having our normal morning breakfast service and follow by monthly birthday celebration with the residents! We will have a sing along or karaoke session right after the birthday session. After that we will bring some residents out to the neighborhood for a lunch at the marketplace.

Session 1: Breakfast
Food: Nasi Lemak with Luncheon meat and Otah
Time: 7am @ the home

Session 2:
1) Birthday Celebration + Singing
Time: 9am @ the home
2) Lunch
Time: 11am @ Marketplace

Volunteer Service on 21/5/2011

For this week service at CMH, we will be having our usual breakfast serving, follow by bring some of the residents out to the neighbourhood for a walk before making our way to the nearby marketplace for lunch.

Session 1 : Breakfast Serving
Time : 7am
Food : Fried Kuey Tiao

Session 2 : Neighbourhood Walk + Lunch
Time : 9am

There will be an additional service at SWAMI home after services at CMH. SWAMI home is a nursing home located at Sembawang, just right opposite Sembawang Shopping Centre. We have already engaged a caterer to provide teabreak for the residents. We will be serving these food and deliver them to all 3 levels of residents. This will be a great chance to have a go at communicating with the residents in the home and get to see the difference between the desitute home and a nursing home.

Time : 1.15pm sharp

Upcoming event @ CMH

We are having our first outing of the year! We're heading to the central of Singapore this time, the Botanical Gardens!

Christalite Heartwarmers will be organizing an outing to the Botanical Gardens on 11th June 2011 to celebrate Dumpling Festival with the beneficiaries.

Therefore, we need your help, volunteers!

CNY Celebration and MORE!

I wish everyone happy lunar new year and always stay cheerful and healthy!!

This coming 12/02/11 we will be having our CNY Celebration @ CMH! Be sure to wear some flowers in your hair!


That doesn't mean our event ended after 12th! We will be having our volunteer BBQ session @ 26/02/11! Please refer to the email for more information!! Come down and have a good fun get along session! Summertime will be a loving there!

Mid Autumn Festival Outing on 25 September 2010 (Updates)

Main Objective:
To celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival (中秋节)with the residents of CMH.

Event Highlights:
We will be bringing 20-25 residents to the Woodlands Waterfront.
Woodlands Waterfront - http://www.ura.gov.sg/woodlandswaterfront/

1630 Gather at CMH
  1. Briefing (Day event as well as assignment of beneficiaries to volunteers)
  2. Preparing hot drinks and cold drinks
1730 Arrival of bus and the ferrying of beneficiaries

1830 Games (with prizes)
  1. 3 games to be played.
1900 Serving of snacks and drinks to beneficiaries.
  1. Moon Cakes and other light snacks will be provided.
1920 Walking around the park with the beneficiaries (With Lantern)

2000 Home sweet home (Back to CMH)

Location:
Christalite Methodist Home → Woodlands Waterfront → Christalite Methodist Home

Additonal Details:
Dinner will be provided for volunteers.
We will be preparing
goodies bag with biscuit, coffee, milo powder, cup noodles etc for the beneficiaries.
There will also be a sing along session slotted into the programme.

Activities Update

Heartwarmers will be organizing the following activities:

(1) 28th August (Getai Performance)

Main Objective:
To celebrate the Hungry Ghost Festival (7th Month of the Chinese Lunar Calendar) with the residents of CMH

Event Highlights and volunteers support required:
We will be having,
- Getai (歌台)with a string of performances.
- Auction, bidding of items by the beneficiaries. - Requiring Volunteers to assist the beneficiaries with the bidding using ice-cream sticks..
Auction items (suggested) - watches, water bottles, cup noodles, coffee-mix packets, radio.

1pm to 3.30pm

**** How can you help?
Assist the beneficiaries with the bidding during the auction using ice-cream sticks.
Assist in the serving of tea-break

(2) 3rd & 4th September (Goodies bag packing)

Main Objective:
To assist with the packing of Goodies Bag for the less fortunate family which includes the visually handicapped, MINDS, hospice, many low income family and others.

Activity Highlight:
The activity is split into 2 parts:
1) Packing: There will be about 120 volunteers who will be assisting the packing of the goodies bag during daytime on Friday (3rd Sept). Extra help may be needed if the packing could not be finish during the day.
2) Loading: The goodies bag will have to be loaded onto vehicles on Saturday morning for distribution.

Location:
Henderson Community Club

Our (Heatwarmers) Involvement:
The target is to complete the whole packing during the day.
If however the packing could not be completed by then, we may need volunteers to help out with the packing after work.

(3) 25th Sept (Mid-Autumn Festival Outing)

External Event by external group:

(1) 11th September (Elderly Sector Network Carnival)

Elderly Sector Network (ESN) will be organizing an annual ESN carnival:

Main Objective:
To infuse a sense of togetherness as a community of volunteers serving the elderly sector and to provide an afternoon of beyond volunteering experience of fun, cheer and company to the elderly by the combined efforts of volunteers.

Background of Elderly Sector Network:
The objective of the Elderly Sector Network is to synergise, streamline and consolidate training/event-organising efforts between volunteer agencies of the same interest group. Focusing on the elderly sector, we hope to promote networking among the volunteer agencies to share and exchange ideas, resources and information. We hope to promote networking not only within the elderly sector but also to other sectors, through our inter-sector networking efforts. Event Highlights:
Games and food stalls will be set up by volunteers from different home.
There will also be a mini-concert, as well as lucky draws for beneficiaries.

Location:
Yishun JC (However please take note that volunteers attached to the beneficiaries would be required to report to CMH)

Time:
2pm to 4.30pm

Our (Heartwarmers) involvement:
We will be setting up:
1) Food stall (Selling Tau Suan) - Requiring 4 students + 1 regular CMH volunteer to mann
2) Game stall (Pending Confirmation) - Requiring 4 students + 1 regular CMH volunteer to mann
3) 15 beneficiaries from CMH will be joining in the carnival - Requiring 20 to 25 volunteers
(For student volunteer, we will either pair you up with an adult of if we have insufficient manpower, we will have 2 students to be attached to a beneficiary)

What we hope to achieve:
We hope that through this event,
- It will encourage more interactions between our volunteers and the beneficiaries from CMH as well as with volunteers from the other volunteer groups.
